One of the meetings had a presentation on using blogs for IT. It looked interesting, and seemed to offer a new way to store and index information. It definitely looked more promising than my collection of text documents sitting out on a Linux server and a bunch of emails. Email does not index or sort very well, as most of you know.
Finally, there was enough time to install WordPress on one of our servers. Once, I got hold of their documentation, the rest was easy. We’re using MySQL as the database backend. Now, I can start archiving all the information I have accumulated in over five years on the job.
