There are no dazzling pictures, because this post is all about a lot of hard work, cooperation, and Wasp Barcode Software.
Today was a milestone for our AMR project. We processed configuration changes using a work order containing barcodes, one for water account number, and the other for the radio endpoint.
Processing radio endpoints through inventory is important, because if the endpoint for my house winds up somewhere else in town, I will be billed for water use somewhere else in town. Processing barcoded information also means no mistypes, although we have worked with a cracker jack person, who only had four mis-typed accounts in our temporary spreadsheet method of inventory. And that was for over 3,000 endpoints installed. We did well.
Hopefully, over time, we’ll add our town’s meter inventory into the system. But for now, this win is sweet enough.
