Processing Files [With Embedded Spaces] In *nix

Processing files in a directory is not a big trick, but I didn’t know about modifying IFS, so a bash script would not treat file names with embedded spaces as separate files. Who does this stuff? Well, here is a workaround.

#!/bin/bash

SAVEIFS=$IFS
IFS=$(echo -en "nb")

for file in *
do
echo "$file"
done

IFS=$SAVEIFS
